Queiroz: Pepe cost too much

30 July 2007 - 15:08

Carlos Queiroz has revealed that when he was manager of Real Madrid, he spoke to then president Florentino Perez to sign the young Brazilian defender Pepe from Maritimo.

  • Chelsea open to selling midfielder for £100m amid Real Madrid interest
  • Xabi Alonso to replace Arne Slot at Liverpool?
  • Queiroz also claimed the deal to sign him would've only cost 2M EUR had Perez accepted Queiroz's request. Worryingly for Real Madrid, this summer they have signed Pepe for 30M EUR, over 15 times more than the original fee they could've purchased the now 24 year old for.
