Sunderland eye Shaun Maloney transfer

Sunderland have a surprise interest in Wigan midfielder Shaun Maloney. Should the Latics relegate to the Championship, the Black Cats are ready to offer 4 million GBP for the player.

Maloney has been consistently one of Wigan's best players in recent years, and last year helped retain the Latics' Premier League status with some hard working displays in the centre of midfield. Maloney appears to be producing the same kind of form this year, as Wigan battle bravely for their Premier League survival.



Manager Paolo di Canio will make an offer for Maloney at the end of the campaign.
