Weimann signs Aston Villa contract

11 June 2013 - 06:30

Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann has put pen to paper on a new contract at Villa Park. The striker will now remain with his club until at least 2016.

  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?
  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?

  • The forward scored 8 Premier League goals last year from a total of 12 goals in all competitions, and had been linked with a move away this summer.

"I'm really happy that I've signed. I love the club and it's been brilliant for me, for I have a feeling of being at home here at Aston Villa," the striker said.

"I did not expect at the start of the season it would go the way it did, with me being involved, starting games almost the whole way through.

"It was exciting to be part of the team's development because the potential within this young, exciting team is really strong."
