Kaboul: I joined Spurs for Jol

28 October 2007 - 09:15

Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul has admitted that he joined the club on the pretence of working with Martin Jol. Kaboul revealed that Damien Comolli spoke fondly of the Dutchman, who has helped Kaboul settle into Premiership life quickly.

  • Man Utd can finally sign Ederson for huge bargain fee
  • "He supported me a lot at the beginning," Kaboul said. "My English isn't great but he talked to me all the time and made sure I understood. He's a coach who gives you his trust very quickly. That's why I never wanted to let him down."

Kaboul insists he was convinced about joining Spurs in the summer by the presence of Jol.

"When (Damien) Comolli contacted me last season he talked a lot about Martin Jol," Kaboul told the Sunday Telegraph. "He said many positive things about him. Before I signed, I went to meet the coach and he told me about his ambitions for the club. He was very optimistic. He told me what he expected from me and he was very clear."
