Fellaini salary demands put off suitors

26 June 2013 - 00:25

Marouane Fellaini has made his potential move away from Everton even more complex after his lofty salary demands were revealed. That could take the eventual deal to a sum well above £50 million, an expense that the likes of Arsenal would be unlikely to approve.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Fellaini’s extravagant wage requirements could place Wenger in a tricky situation, as the Frenchman likes to keeps all his players on a more or less equal footing. This kind of structure has been subjected to much criticism as being the chief hindrance in resisting big-names from signing for the Gunners.

The 25 year old midfielder who currently makes £75,000-per-week at Everton, but is demanding £100,000-per-week to ply his trade at the North London club. The Gunners are still yet to trigger a release clause of £22 million to price him away from Goodison Park.

Fellaini is a strong midfield enforcer mostly known for his forceful tackles, he is second to none in winning headers. He averages 3.55 games per yellow card, which shows that teh Belgian International is not shy of committing to tackles, an attribute that Wenger will be most keen on, to add cover to his sometimes vulnerable back four.

It will be interesting to see whether Wenger will break his wage structure inorder to induce a move for the Belgian International.
