Papiss Cisse set to leave the Magpies?

Papiss Cisse set to leave the Magpies?

18 July 2013 - 13:08

Newcastle and Senegalese striker Papiss Demba Cisse has denied to wear the Magpies match day and training tops due to the the logo of payday loans firm Wonga. The Senegalese International's career at St.James Park could be set to finish as he was not selected to be part of the pre-season tour because of his refusal to carry the logo of pay day loans firm Wonga on his shirt as per reports in the Daily Mirror.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Papiss Cisse is a Muslim by religion and is said to be unwilling to wear a top with Wonga’s logo as it is forbidden in his belief. The striker made a formal request to the Newcastle management in an attempt to wear unbranded tops while training but Wonga have refused the proposal as it would send a wrong tone if one of Magpies players were to not wear a shirt with their logo on it.

As Cisse seems likely for a switch away from the club, Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala who have been closely monitoring the situation, looks to be his next destination.
