Tottenham target Leandro Damiao staying put

18 July 2013 - 13:34

Internacional and Brazil international striker Leandro Damiao will be likely to stay in Brazil for the next season. Tottenham are long term admirers of the forward but have so far failed in their efforts to sign the player.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Internacional are confident that they can keep Damiao at the club despite a flurry of interest from Europe in the forward. Southampton have also been linked with a move.

"It's silly to sell Leandro Damiao this year, he has the chance to play the World Cup and improve at a personal and professional level," said Internacional chairman Luis Moura.

"We are confident and we understand that he can wait another year, play the World Cup, increase his value with the national team and then be transferred and have other opportunities."
