Sven quiet on Alves rumours

04 November 2007 - 14:38

Sven-Goran Eriksson has kept quiet on reports linking him with a move for Afonso Alves, but he has admitted that there is plenty of money available for tansfers in the January transfer window.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • He said: "We have some good strikers and it would be wrong of me now to say what we need in January. We have money available if we want to do something."

Vassell has recently admitted he is "thinking about his future" at Eastlands after falling down the pecking order but Eriksson has been pleased with Vassell's attitude since the former Aston Villa man pledged his future to the club.

"Darius scored five goals in training today. It is good they want to stay here and fight, " said the Swede.

"He is now injury-free and still has the qualities he showed for England - that pace and technique.

"Darius can score goals and play in different positions. He is a very useful player for us."

Eriksson also stressed that Bianchi was relaxed about his situation and promised he will get a chance soon.

"I have not fallen out with him and he has not fallen out with me," added Eriksson.

"He is very polite young man. He will have his chance soon."
