06 August 2013 - 14:09

Nice midfielder Nanpalys Mendy has insisted that there have been no talks of a deal that would take him to Manchester United in the future. The talented star joined Ligue 1 outfit Nice from rivals AS Monaco this summer.

The 21-year-old who plays as a defensive midfielder had one year remaining on his contract with newly-promoted AS Monaco, but he backed himself to make a switch to Nice in spite of interest from the Premier League champions Manchester United.

  • He told L'Equipe: "I chose Nice and I think it was the right decision.

"I preferred Nice because the coach talked to me and I liked it. I didn't hesitate."

Mendy, when asked about a move to Manchester United was quick to dismiss the speculation.

"No, there is nothing, nothing at all," he said.

"I aim to join the Under-21 national team. I need to have a series of good performances for the club."
