West Bromwich boss Clarke doubtful over Kalou deal

West Bromwich boss Clarke doubtful over Kalou deal

11 August 2013 - 15:53

West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke has revealed that he wants to bring Manchester City reject Scott Sinclair to the Hawthorns this summer but doubts if Salomon Kalou transfer will happen.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The Baggies boss has been interested in signing the 24 year old Manchester City winger this summer along with a host of other clubs.

Sinclair has had very limited chances in City's first team and is looking for a new club so as to get more first team football.

"We've made an enquiry to Manchester City," said Clarke in the Birmingham Mail. "There are discussions between the two clubs but beyond that there is nothing to report.

"It would be nice to think we can get one in before Saturday. If we can get two in, it would be great. If I can get three, I would be delighted."

Clarke also added that he is not sure if former Chelsea striker Kalou would agree to move to West Bromwich this summer.

"I don't think anybody has been able to persuade Salomon to come out of France.

"The closer you get to the start of our season, the closer you get to the start of the French season. It doesn't look as if that one will happen, but that's normal in any transfer season.

"It's not just us who couldn't persuade him. A few clubs wanted him."
