Wolfsburg manager Dieter Heckings denies signing of Arsenal target Luis Gustavo

16 August 2013 - 00:39

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Heckings has insisted that their move for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo was not concluded as per reports coming from Germany.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Luis Gustavo is set for a move away from the Bundesliga champions this summer as he looks for more first team opportunities.

Arsenal were tipped as favourites to capture his signature, but reports had earlier suggested that German outfit Wolfsburg have edged a step ahead of the Premier League giants.

Heckings said in a report : "We can't confirm the transfer yet. He has been with the Selecao, so we haven't had more talks. But we hope he will decide for Wolfsburg. Of course we know there are several other clubs interested."

Meanwhile, Gustavo also expressed his views on the transfer, he said : "I still don't know what will happen, but hopefully my future will be decided as soon as possible so I can prepare better for the next [international] friendlies and the main objective; the World Cup."

Arsenal fans around the world would have a feeling of optimism among themselves as Gustavo might still opt to join the Gunners given the transfer isn't buried yet.
