Sunderland tracking Nigeria international Uche Nwofor

25 August 2013 - 06:11

Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has been busy in the transfer market this summer but his shopping spree shows no sign of ending as the Italian manager has made a reported offer for VVV Venlo striker Ucho Nwofor.

  • The Nigerian international, who has been with VVV-Venlo since 2011 and has scored 14 goals in 53 games for the Dutch side, has attracted the interest of numerous teams from Europe but Sunderland are reportedly the first to contact Nwofor's Dutch club regarding a potential transfer.

Black Cats' scouts have been suitably impressed with the 21-year-old's contributions for the Eredivisie side so far this season; Nwofor bagged his first goal of the new campaign last week.

Having 2 goals in 2 games for his country, Nigeria, Uche currently does not currently qualify for a work permit in England, however representatives of the player are confident that Sunderland can still secure a transfer for Uche if the Black Cats apply for a "special talent" work permit for the player.
