Italy international Alessandro Diamanti has confirmed that he is on the verge of agreeing a new deal with his current club Bologna.

  • The former Brescia winger has been a consistent performer for the Rossoblu over the last season and is keen on staying on at his present club for a few more years.

The 30 year old's recent good run of form has seen him being awarded a place in the Italy national squad and was regularly used as a substitute during the Azurris Confederations cup campaign.

Diamanti said: "My deal? Everyone wanted the same thing: me, the club, the town.

"It's almost sorted and during the week we will sign the new deal.

"I will bind myself to Bologna for many years.

"Achieving stability with this side is like getting into the Champions League elsewhere."
