Eriksson doubts England's World Cup credentials

05 November 2013 - 03:04

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson doubts the quality of England's national side ahead of next year's World Cup, insisting that the Three Lions have no chance of reigning supreme in the showpiece tournament.

  • Chelsea urged to sign Man City star on free transfer
  • Chelsea squad want Xabi Alonso as manager
  • The former England coach is hopeful that one day his former side can win, but it won't happen in Brazil according to the Swede.<br />

"I don't believe they can win the World Cup in Brazil,” said Eriksson.<br />

"There are a lot of young players coming in. Maybe in Russia. I think it's easier to win it there than in Brazil. For a European team to win in South America is not easy.<br />

"Expectation does not seem to be what it was in the past and I think that's very good for the team.<br />

"The quarter-finals would be very good. It is time for a semi-final or final."<br />
