Eriksson doubts England's World Cup credentials

05 November 2013 - 03:04

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson doubts the quality of England's national side ahead of next year's World Cup, insisting that the Three Lions have no chance of reigning supreme in the showpiece tournament.

  • Aston Villa set staggering price tag for Morgan Rogers
  • The former England coach is hopeful that one day his former side can win, but it won't happen in Brazil according to the Swede.

"I don't believe they can win the World Cup in Brazil,” said Eriksson.

"There are a lot of young players coming in. Maybe in Russia. I think it's easier to win it there than in Brazil. For a European team to win in South America is not easy.

"Expectation does not seem to be what it was in the past and I think that's very good for the team.

"The quarter-finals would be very good. It is time for a semi-final or final."
