Everton and Netherlands international centre back John Heitinga has pulled the plug on a potential transfer to West Ham but admits it is likely that he will leave Goodison Park in the current transfer window.
Both Everton and the Hammers had agreed a fee for the talented centre back, but the player himself decided against a transfer to Upton Park and instead will now look to move elsewhere.
"At my age it's important to make the right decisions," Heitinga said. "It's not all about the money, as that wasn't a problem at West Ham United. You have to be fully convinced that you will make the right step and I didn't have that.
"Therefore I have cancelled a move to West Ham United and we will now wait for the interest of other clubs."
