Schalke midfielder heading to Turkey

Schalke midfielder Jermaine Jones has signed for Turkish club Besiktas. The American International joined the club in 2007 from fellow Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt and went on to make 182 appearances.

  • The 32 year old had made 14 appearances for the Royal Blues this season but would have struggled to get much needed game time ahead of this summer’s world cup in Brazil.



    The player’s contract ran till the summer but it was cancelled by mutual consent.



    This what Schalke Sporting director Horst Heldt said about Jones,



    "We're delighted that Jermaine has found himself a new club where he can reach his sporting goals this year,"



    Besiktas are currently fifth in Turkish league four points off the second place and a potential UEFA Champions League place.
