Van Marwijk sacked at Hamburg

16 February 2014 - 10:18

Bundesliga outfit Hamburg have sacked their head coach Bert Van Marwijk. The 61 year old becomes the second coach to be sacked by the North German side.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • The sacking comes in the wake on club’s seventh straight defeat against bottom club Eintracht Braunschweig which has seen the club plunge into one of the direct relegation spots. The news was broken to the Dutchman by club’s four member executive committee.

The former Dutch national team’s manager term at the Imtech Arena lasted all of 143 days.

Hamburg have been an ever present in the Bundesliga and have never been relegated in the 50 year old history of the competition.
