Ince favorite for Derby job

Ince favorite for Derby job

27 November 2007 - 00:02

Former Man Utd legend Paul Ince has emerged as the bookmaker's favorite to take the Derby managerial job. Ince is currently in charge of MK Dons; and emerged as a surprising favorite ahead of Paul Jewell and Steve McClaren.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Derby chairman Adam Pearson told BBC Radio 5 Live he had "two or three main candidates to replace Davies".

Pearson said: "I want someone who is resilient and dogged, but who thinks he can win. Time is of the essence."

Despite Ince apparently fitting those requirements, MK Dons were quick to distance him from speculation linking him with a move to Derby.

MK Dons said in a statement: "We will not allow it to compromise the excellent start Paul and the team have made to the season.

"Paul Ince is the hottest young manager in English football and it comes as no surprise that his name continues to be linked to managerial posts in higher divisions."
