Long serving Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi is hoping to earn himself a new contract at St James' Park. The forward has indicated that he wants to extend his 18 year stay at the Toon Army.
Ameobi's contract expires at the en dof the season and there has been talk of a move elsewhere for the burly forward, with Stoke City among his admirers.
The forward is also confident that a spell of good form will guarantee a place on the plane to Brazil to represent Nigeria at the World Cup.
"From a World Cup point of view, obviously the more I play, the better chance I have of going," Ameobi said.
"But my focus right now is on playing for Newcastle and then hopefully everything will take care of itself.
"As far as my future is concerned, we'll discuss everything at the end of the season."
