Southgate's money worries

Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate has admitted he is uncertain about how much money he will have to spend in the January transfer window. There has been speculation that Southgate could be fired before January.

He told the club's official website: "Rather than deny or confirm any individual, the easiest thing to say is we're watching lots of different players.



"There are certain positions we think need strengthening but we haven't ourselves come down to one or two players to go for.”



"There are still maybe three or four targets for each position and we want to keep watching players over the coming weeks to finalise those targets.”



"With the position we're in and the way attendances have been over the last couple of years, we have to cut our cloth accordingly and we have to make sure we do the right things in January. But whether we'll have millions to spend I doubt very much."
