Chelsea are reportedly readying a summer offer for Atletico Madrid defender Joao Miranda, according to The Star.

The Brazilian international joined the Spanish champions from Sao Paolo three seasons ago, and has played a fundamental part in the club's excellent progress.

The Star claims that the Blues will have talks with Atletico over the player's transfer next week, with the West London outfit set to offer a fee of around £20m.

It is understood that Miranda has revealed his desire to leave the La Liga giants for a switch to Stamford Bridge, but the club will not sell him for anything less than his release clause, which now stands at £24m.
