West Bromwich Albion manager Alan Irvine wants to bring in just one more player before the transfer window closes on September 1st. It is understood Irvine is looking for a defender.

  • Chelsea open to selling midfielder for £100m amid Real Madrid interest
  • Xabi Alonso to replace Arne Slot at Liverpool?

  • According to reports, WBA have at least 3 million pounds left to spend on one new player and coach Alan Irvine is expected to be busy before the close of the transfer window.

"I'm hoping all of our work will be done by Monday so I can sit back and see what unfolds," said Irvine. "We lost 13 players so straight away it meant we were going to have to bring in big numbers so it was clear it was going to be a big job in terms of creating a new squad.

"We're hoping to bring in one more and I'm hoping that doesn't have to last as long as Monday because it would be nice to just side and watch what unfolds elsewhere."
