Nevlands move collapses

Nevland's move collapses

12 December 2007 - 09:20

Erik Nevland is left saddened by the fact his move from Groningen to Fulham collapsed on Friday evening, complaining that Groningen had placed an unrealistic price tag on the striker's head.

  • Chelsea planning move for marquee centre-back
  • Juventus exploring deal for Chelsea striker
  • "I understand why Fulham returned to London," Nevland told Stavanger Aftenblad.

"The Groningen directors are living in a fantasy world. I clearly stated what I thought about the issue, but then the Groningen directors just stood up and left the meeting.

"I honestly believed that it would be sorted out, but Groningen demanded much more than was offered.

"When you have come as far as negotiations, I thought it would be sorted out.

"I have experienced many setbacks in football, but this is the biggest."
