Newcastle United are expected to come up with a renewed offer for midfielder Florian Thauvin after their initial £12m bid was knocked back by Marseille.

  • Magpies boss Steve McClaren is keen on landing the player's signature this summer, as he seeks to boost the club's midfield options for the new campaign.

    According to The Mirror, the Tyneside outfit are ready to offer Remy Cabella as makeweight in an improved deal for the French playmaker.

    Thauvin joined Marseille from Lille in the summer of 2013.
