Sunderland have began negotiations over a summer deal for Rubin Kazan midfielder Yann M'Vila, according to a French source.
The talented Frenchman was linked with a move to the Premier League during his time at Rennes.
M'Vila has since then moved to Rubin Kazan in 2013, and was loaned out to Inter Milan for the first half of last season.
According to French publication L'Equipe, the Black Cats are ready to move in for a new midfielder, and consider M'Vila as their main transfer target.
The 25-year-old has made 22 appearances for the French national side.
