Newcastle United on verge of Florian Thauvin signing

Newcastle United are inching closer to a summer deal for Marseille midfielder Florian Thauvin, according to reports.

The Magpies had previously failed with a &pound10.7m bid for 22-year-old, and this had led to talks that the club could offer midfielder Remy Cabella as makeweight in an improved offer.

However, The Mirror claims that the Magpies are confident of sealing a deal for Thauvin this week, after they made a fresh bid of around &pound12m for the player's signature.

Thauvin notched eight assists and five goals in 38 games for his club last term.
