Newcastle are chasing the signature of Arsenal midfielder Lassana Diarra. The 22-year-old has become increasingly disappointed at his lack of first-team opportunities at the Gunners.
Newcastle's disappointing first half of the season has only heightened a desire for fresh faces and should Arsenal be willing to do business, Diarra's capture would be regarded as a notable coup.
Diarra has become disheartened at his lack of first-team opportunities and Man City were also interested in his services, but Newcastle appear to have jumped to the front of the queue and may pay up to £4 million to the Gunners.
