The 27-year-old has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs since his exploits with Algeria at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, the Eagles are willing to pay a fee in excess of £22m, which would automatically trigger the player's release clause.

Should Slimani move to the Eagles, he would break the £13m record fee paid to bring Yohan Cabaye to Selhurst Park in the summer.

Slimani has netted 41 goals in 90 outings for Sporting till date.
