Premier League strugglers Newcastle United have acquired the services of Bordeaux midfielder Henri Saivet for an undisclosed fee.

The Senegalese international had been on the Magpies radar over the past year, and the club have now sealed his signature on a five-and-a-half-year contract.

\"I am very happy to be here at Newcastle. I am really proud to be able to play for this Club, and I am really excited at the challenge that lies ahead,\" he told the club\'s official website.

The 25-year-old made over 175 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit since his debut in 2007.
