Sanchez joins Schalke

15 January 2008 - 21:45

Vicente Sanchez is on the verge of completing his move to Schalke 04 from Deportivo Toluca. The Uruguayan has been plying his trade in the Mexican leagues in 2001, scoring 85 goals.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The 28-year-old has agreed a deal worth four-million dollars which includes a clause which allows him to return to the Mexican first division side if things don't work out in the German club.

The newspaper said that Sanchez will undergo a medical at Gelsenkirchen before signing the two-year contract.

"It's a dream come true for me to play in Europe. I'm happy to be joining a big club but sad to be leaving a team like Toluca where I've played for seven years," Sanchez was quoted as saying.
