Everton have entered the chase to land Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick. The England international is in the final months of his contract at Old Trafford, and talks over an extension seem to have stalled.
Recent speculation has suggested that the 34-year-old could remain in the top flight, if he is to leave United at the end of the season.
According to The Express, the Toffees will look to continue the trend of signing players from their North West rivals by making a move for the experienced campaigner.
However, they are likely to face competition from the likes of Arsenal and West Ham United, who are prepared to make offers of their own for the midfielder.
Carrick has racked over 400 appearances for United since his move from Tottenham Hotspur nearly a decade ago.
