Arsenal fail with Clinton N'Jie bid

Tottenham Hotspur have rebuffed a formal approach from Arsenal for winger Clinton N'Jie. The 22-year-old was the subject of interest from the Gunners last summer before he opted to join Spurs from Lyon on an £8.3m deal.

  • Spurs have earlier agreed to send N'Jie on loan as part of a transfer agreement which would see Georges-Kevin N'Koudou link up with them from Marseille.

According to L'Equipe, the Gunners had made a last ditch attempt to sign the young attacker from the hands of their arch-rivals.

However, Spurs were unwilling to negotiate with the Gunners, and would rather see their player move on a temporary basis over the summer.

N'Jie struggled to make progress through the previous campaign as he suffered a long-term injury during the festive period. He notched a total of 14 appearances in all competitions last term.
