  • The 27-year-old had iterated his desire to leave the Magpies this summer after they were relegated to the second tier of English football.

BBC Sport confirms that the France international has linked up with the North London outfit on a five-year contract following weeks of speculation over his future.

"I will give everything for you and the team. I hope we win a lot of games and titles," he revealed on Spurs' twitter account.

The Toffees were earlier tipped to land Sissoko's signature, only to see them withdraw their interest after they declined to match the player's wage demands.

Sissoko was impressive for France en route to the finals of Euro 2016, and this attracted interest from a whole host of clubs.

He appeared in 133 games for Newcastle United during a three-year spell.
