Wigan sign Marlon King

Wigan sign Marlon King

26 January 2008 - 00:57

Wigan have beaten Premiership rivals Fulham to the signing of Marlon King from Watford for a fee believed to be £5 million. King looked to be heading to Fulham but the transfer deal hit a snag.

  • Chelsea to make offer for Martin Zubimendi?
  • Tottenham make £85m bid to sign Man City winger
  • The 27-year-old Jamaica international appeared to be on the verge of signing for the Cottagers last week, but has finally opted to join their relegation rivals Wigan.

Latics' assistant manager Eric Black had earlier said: "We've shown an interest and it's ongoing. Fulham are obviously interested as well, as are another couple of clubs, because he's obviously done exceptionally well for Watford this season.

"You obviously always have to be concerned with his injury problems.

"But if something did happen then we'd obviously have to satisfy ourselves that it wasn't an ongoing problem and wouldn't be a problem in the future.

"Hopefully if we do get him then he could contribute between now and the end of the season."
