Rangers still hunt Moore

Rangers still hunt Moore

26 January 2008 - 10:13

Rangers are still in the hunt for Aston Villa striker Luke Moore. Walter Smith is reportedly keen to sign the £3 million striker but has admitted he may have to wait until the summer to sign him after the sale of Daniel Cousin.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Smith said: "A fee has never been discussed. I did make an enquiry about the player's situation because he'd been out the team. I just wanted to know if they we willing to sell him and Martin told me he was going back into their team, which he did do."

Asked whether Moore could still be a target in the summer, Smith added: "Yes, possibly. I saw him play a few years ago when I was at Everton and he was just coming into the youth team. He looked like a good player."

On the sale of Daniel Cousin, Smith added: "We weren't actively trying to move him on and we could have kept him until the summer but if the player wants to go and we keep him, what kind of state of mind would he be in?

"He didn't come here to go to the Premier League but he felt that if he came here and did well enough he could get a move to maybe a bigger European club."
