Samuel Eto'o equalled the all time goalscoring record held by Laurent Pokou of the Ivory Coast, when he scored his 14th goal during the match with Zambia today in the African Nations tournament.

  • Three-time African Player of the Year Eto'o joined record holder Laurent Pokou of the Ivory Coast on 14, when he converted a 65th minute penalty.



    The victory was a much-needed boost for Cameroon after their 4-2 loss to Group C rivals Egypt in their opening game.



    The Indomitable Lions took the lead after 27 minutes from a free kick by Geremi Njitap. Five minutes later Desire Job made it 2-0.



    Poor Zambian defending let in Achilles Emana for a third before the break.



    Cameroon stretched their lead in the 65th minute after Eto'o was fouled on the edge of the box. His free kick was handled inside the area and from the resulting spot kick he equalled Pokou's record.
