Southampton are reportedly prepared to offload Jose Fonte in January, should they receive an offer in excess of £5m for his services. The Portugal international was the subject of strong interest from Manchester United and Everton in the summer before the Saints ruled out his sale.
Portuguese source Maisfutebol claims that the South Coast outfit are willing to see the exit of their long-standing defender after he snubbed negotiations over a fresh contract.
Fonte has just 18 months left on his previous deal, and it is understood that he is eyeing a bigger challenge before he calls quits to his professional career.
The Euro 2016 winner has yet to participate for Southampton in the Europa League this season, and this gives an indication that he could pursue his dream move to Old Trafford in the New Year.
