A 1-1 draw with Namibia today was enough to see Guinea reach the quarter finals of the African Cup of Nations today, shocking the football world who anticipated that Morocco would be the team to join Ghana in the next stage.

    Brian Brendel equalized for Namibia in the 81st against the run of play.



    "We came so close to making a big surprise," said Namibia coach Arie Schans, who added he was hoping for a contract extension. "I think there certainly is hope in this young team."



    Guinea finished in second place in Group A with four points, five behind Ghana, which beat Morocco 2-0 to stay perfect.
