Napoli have completed the signing of Argentinian goalkeeper Nicolas Navarro from Argentinos Juniors. The keeper is considered one of the best in his homeland and is on the fringe of the full international side.

  • The Serie A side signed the 22-year-old Argentinian after seeing a move for top target Agustin Orion from San Lorenzo fall through.

Navarro, who has cost a reported £1.5million, was part of the Argentina Under-20 squad that won the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship.

"The whole thing was very unexpected," he said. "Late on Sunday the board gave the okay to Napoli and I left the training camp at Mar del Plata.

"I came to Buenos Aires to sign papers and to travel from there."
