Chelsea face tricky Swans test this weekend

Preview: Chelsea vs Swansea City

24 February 2017 - 14:33

Premier League leaders Chelsea will seek to extend their eight-point gap at the summit when they host lowly-placed Swansea City on Saturday.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Both Arsenal and Manchester City will play no part this weekend after their respective fixtures were postponed due to the EFL final between Southampton and Manchester United on Sunday.

Most notably, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool are the only top-six clubs vying to challenge the leaders with tricky ties against Stoke City and Leicester City in the fixture list.

    Chelsea:

The Blues come into the game on the back of a tough 1-1 draw at Burnley in the previous league outing. Antonio Conte's side cruised through their FA Cup Fifth Round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, but it was more of a second string side which took the field.

Swansea City had sparked a minor collapse for the Blues at the start of the campaign where their 2-2 scoreline at the Liberty Stadium was accompanied with defeats to both Liverpool and Arsenal.

However, the Blues have since transformed into a formidable outfit in defence with the 3-4-3 setup doing wonders in their hunt for a fifth Premier League title. This game promises to be as exciting as the games at online casino. Chelsea are 1/4 to win the game, while Swansea are given extremely long odds of 14/1 for success.

    Team News:

David Luiz was seen struggling with a knee problem at Turf Moor, but he is expected to be fit for the clash against the Swans, who have been rejuvenated under Paul Clement.

Conte will be expected to name an unchanged lineup with Pedro getting the nod over Willian once again in the attack front.

    Player to watch for:

Costa got a much-needed goal against the Wolves last weekend following a run of four games without one. The Spain international has not scored in the league since the 2-0 victory over Hull City, and he will be rearing to get the goal at his sight. His recent goal drought results in a lot of value when backing the 28-year-old to score this weekend. He has given odds of 4/7 to score anytime.

Probable XI: Courtois; Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill; Moses, Alonso; Matic, Kante; Pedro, Costa, Hazard.

    Swansea City:

Swansea City have found themselves propping up the table over the past month with three victories in four in the top flight.

Barring the late 2-1 defeat to the Citizens, the Welsh outfit have looked aggressive with their style of play - something which suits the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson in particular.

A month back, many predicted the Swans to go down without a fight, but Clement's side are now a potent threat in the attacking department.

    Team News:

The Swans will be without the services of Nathan Dyer who sustained a gruesome Achilles injury in the last outing. Winter recruit Luciano Narsingh is likely to take his place ahead of Wayne Routledge in the starting lineup.

    Player to watch for:

Young defender Alfie Mawson has been a menace from set pieces of late. The former Barnsley man has netted three goals since the turn of the year - all in winning circumstances for the Swans, and the Blues will have to keep a keen eye on his movement.

Probable XI: Fabianski; Naughton, Mawson, Fernandez, Olsson; Cork, Fer; Caroll, Sigurdsson, Narsingh; Llorente
