Arsenal prepared to part ways with Mesut Ozil

Premier League giants Arsenal could be prepared to offload the services of midfielder Mesut Ozil, should he continue his contract standoff with the club.

  • The World Cup winner has not made much of an influence on the club's proceedings in the second half of the season, and this has brought a sense of frustration among the club's faithful.

According to Express, via Don Balon, the German's stay in London could be limited until the end of the season after he was found swearing at medical officer Gary O'Driscoll when requested to perform a drugs test after the Spurs loss.

Ozil, who is on a £140,000-a-week package, is understood to be demanding at least a 200 percent rise in his current wages, and this is something the club are unlikely to match under any condition.

The former Real Madrid ace has failed to live up to his expectations in the big games this season, and this has made the scapegoat in what has been a disappointing campaign for the FA Cup finalists.

Arsenal face a must-win game against rivals Manchester United this weekend if they are to stand any chance of making the top-four positions.
