Preview: Egypt vs Angola

04 February 2008 - 14:36

Egypt have a full-strength squad available for the first time for Monday's quarter-final with Angola.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Midfielder Mohamed Aboutrika has returned to full fitness after twice coming off the bench to score.

Mohamed Zidan is expected to return in a three-man attack after being a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Zambia.

Angola will have their first taste of knock-out football at a major tournament, with Manucho and Flavio giving them a useful strike force.

The Black Antelopes went out at the group stage in their four previous appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt have looked very strong side, but defender Rui Marques is optimistic about Angola's chances.

"We believed we could do it (reach the quarter-finals) and from now we must try to win because we want to achieve something," he said.

"We're working well, and the results are coming, and we're focussing on this game.

"It will be a difficult game, a hard game, but anything is possible,"

Egypt surprised many with their 4-2 defeat of Cameroon in their opening game, which helped them to finish top of their group.

But coach Hassan Shehata feels that Angola will be tricky opponents.

"It will be hard because Angola play as a team, not as individuals," Shehata said.

"I'm always worried by teams whose play is based on teamwork, so our tactics will change.

"We normally play better against strong teams."
