According to Marca, Liverpool saw an official bid of £64.4 million for Monaco's star forward Kylie Mbappe rejected.
The report from Marca also means that Liverpool are the first team to have officially put in a bid for the French forward ahead of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has signalled his intent to keep Mbappe and will do everything in his power to ensure he is a Monaco player next season. He hopes to persuade Mbappe to stay in the team for another year before listening to offers starting "above 100 million euros" for the player.
In an interview with Canal +, Vasilyev said, [We will] do everything possible [to keep him in the team]. Everything [however] depends on the player's will."
Mbappe raised his stock once more over the past couple of days when he scored the goal to power Monaco to their first Ligue 1 title in 17 years. In total, the French youngster has scored an incredible 26 goals and assisted 14 times in 43 games.
His form in Europe especially caught the attention of Europe's elite clubs, with Real Madrid believed to be the forward's preferred choice of destination. However, with the potential lack of first-team football at any of these clubs, Monaco will hope that guaranteed first-team football will convince Mbappe to stay and further grow as a player.
