Ramos admits tough start

04 February 2008 - 21:27

Spurs boss Juande Ramos has admitted that he found it difficult in his first few weeks at Spurs but is impressed by the professionalism of all the players as he reflects on 100 days in charge at Tottenham.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • "The beginning was complicated," the Tottenham boss said. "I wanted to express myself in English to the squad on the first day, to explain my ideas and to involve them fully. That was the easy bit.

"It was more difficult to take in all the different things about the club and what responsonsibilities a head coach has here.

"My message was that only the team will make you big.

"I had to improve the self-esteem of the players. The success of the team would then allow players to grow individually.

"If you are prepared to give everything for the team then good things will come to you.

"Every one of the players was prepared to listen and they all accepted the subtle changes and have shown complete professionalism, great effort and hard work."
