The Italian forward, who recently played his last game for Roma, is set to begin negotiations for a potential move to American club Miami FC.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The Roma legend left the club after a quarter of a century, scoring 307 goals in 786 appearances and won the Serie A with his boyhood team in 2001.

Totti, who turns 41 in September, was widely expected to retire after his departure from Roma. However, French outlet France Football reported that he is set to continue his playing career with Miami FC in the North American Soccer League (NASL), USA's second tier football league.

AC Milan and Italy legends Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Nesta, who are Totti's close friend, are owner and manager of the club respectively.

The report by France Football stated that the two Italians will try to convince Totti to hold off retirement and to play for Miami FC with the option of a management role after he decides to hang up his boots.

The club have invited Totti for a full tour of the stadium, training ground and amenities before holding a meeting to discuss the potential deal.
