Valencia midfielder David Albelda has been told by Spain boss Luis Aragones that his first-team place in Euro 2008 and in the future lies in jeapordy as he is not playing first-team football for his club Valencia.
Albelda has been frozen out since early December but played for Spain in Wednesday's 1-0 friendly victory over France.
However, Aragones has warned the midfielder he may struggle to make the final squad for the European Championship finals if the situation continues.
"Albelda gives us important defensive balance because he is a player with knowledge of that position and which allows us to use our wide players more in attack," he said.
"But he knows that if he does not play it will be difficult (to play in Euro 2008), although I think that he will look for a way to be able to play and if so, it is possible to fight for a place in the European Championships."
