Kameni wants Espanyol stay

09 February 2008 - 11:30

As Espanyol goalkeeper Carlos Kameni prepares for the final of the African Cup of Nations, the Cameroonian has insisted that his future lies only at Espanyol despite the wranglings that are going on at his club.

  • Chelsea make first move to sign Bournemouth star
  • Atletico Madrid planning shock move for Chelsea star
  • "Although people do not believe it, I'm very much aware of what's happening at Espanyol," he told Sport.es.

"I know how the injury situation is, how the team is working, all such details. A few hours ago I even spoke to [captain] Ivan de la Peña, and I'm in touch with the coach, Luis Garcia.

"My contract with Espanyol runs until 2009, and I just want to focus on the team. Nothing more.

"Everybody knows I'm happy in Barcelona and so is my family - that's crucial. When I return, it'll be time to discuss what we need. For the moment, there have been no offers and no discussions of renewals."
