Chelsea looking to sign Eggestein

Chelsea have been linked with a January transfer window move for Werder Bremen's highly rated youngster Johannes Eggestein. The 19-year-old striker is expected to force his way into Werder's first team on a regular basis this season and is considered one of Europe's best up and coming strikers.

  • The 6 foot forward, who has been with Werder Bremen since 2013, has three years remaining on his deal at the Bundesliga side and has attracted the interest of numerous German clubs including Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich. However, Eggestein is said to be more interested in a move to the Premier League, with Chelsea reportedly his first choice destination.

Eggestein appeared regularly for Werder's second string side last year and has been a prolific goalscorer for Germany's youth international teams, particularly since making the step up to under-17 level. Head coach Alexander Nouri has been under pressure to force Eggestein through into the first-team this season and has so far been reluctant to do so.

Chelsea consider Eggestein a hot prospect for the future and will reportedly pay 18 million euros to sign the striker.
