Who could move where in the January transfer window?

Who could move where in the January transfer window?

12 January 2018 - 07:21

In a few weeks, the winter transfer season opens and there are many clubs looking to strengthen with new players.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • For fans, this is the time to maximise profits through online betting at various bookmakers. Here are the top picks who are likely to move in the January window.

    David Luiz (Chelsea)

Until a few weeks ago, David Luiz seemed to be in manager, Antonio Conte’s plans but that changed after he reportedly questioned the manager’s tactics during the match against Manchester United. Since then he has never appeared in the premier league and it looks as if his future at the English champions is all but over. Possible destinations include European champions Real Madrid who have shown interest, former club PSG and Italian champions, Juventus.

    Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

Rumours doing rounds among the Old Trafford faithful is that Luke Shaw will definitely be on the move. Rumours suggest the manager, Jose Mourinho has already told the player and his agent to search for a new club. Shaw hasn’t featured at all in the premier league this season and considering that this is a world cup year, he needs to look for first-team football to stand any chance of getting on to the plane for Russia in 2018. Likely destinations are Southampton, Watford, and Tottenham.

    Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspurs)

Many consider Danny Rose as the best left back in England but he has been restricted to the bench by Mauricio Pochettino since his return from injury. If fit, his place on the plane to Russia is almost a guarantee but he needs to start playing regularly to fend off competition. Manchester United did not hide their intention to sign the player in the summer with a bid in the region of $40 million rejected. They are still pursuing his signature and they think they can entice Spurs with an improved offer.

    Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)

Barcelona submitted four bids in the summer trying to sign the diminutive Brazilian. All were rejected though the player had made it clear he wanted to move to Barcelona. Barcelona’s chief said they will bid again for Coutinho’ services in the winter window. It’s now a matter of time before we see if Liverpool can reject another bid.

    Edinson Cavani (PSG)

PSG broke the transfer record with the signing of Neymar but one man at PSG is definitely not happy with that. Cavani has seen Neymar overtake his stock and his responsibilities in the team. The two have clashed many times on the field and reports suggest they are no longer on talking terms. Between the two of them, Neymar is the indispensable leaving Cavani with two choices, either to let Neymar take all responsibilities or seek a new club. There are many suitors if he wants to eave including Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

Other players who are likely to leave their clubs in January include Thomas Lemar (Monaco), Ross Barkley (Everton), and Virgil Van Dijk (Southampton).
