Aston Villa are to offer a new deal to former England captain John Terry as the defender heads into the final five months of his existing contract with the Villa Park club. Terry has impressed since making the move to Steve Bruce's side, with the Villains currently riding high in the Championship in 3rd place.
With Aston Villa looking set to push for a place in the Premier League next season, Steve Bruce has been moving swiftly to tie down his best players to extended deals and John Terry appears to be amongst the first to benefit from Bruce's programme.
The defender, 35, has instructed his agent to sit down with Aston Villa's representatives and could even sign a two year extension to his current deal as the club has been so impressed with Terry's recent performances.
Terry is set to sign a new deal worth a reported £85,000 per week with the option of an extended year on the first 12 months of the contract.
Aston Villa, who slipped to a surprise 1-0 defeat to Bolton in their most recent game, have been playing Terry alongside James Chester at the heart of their defence and Chester could also be offered a new contract this month.
